What Are You Made Of?

In Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ’s famous speech that he gave on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1963 is known as his, “I Have A Dream Speech”. The most popular quote from this popular speech says, “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

If you are concerned about your health, and  accustomed to buying prepackaged foods, as many of us are, you probably have read the labels, and looked for the “Ingredients” section.

If you are accustomed to reading, as many of us are, you have probably browsed in a bookstore.

And in your browsing, you probably have picked up a book, whose title attracted you, and opened to the “Table of Contents” so that you could see what was on the inside.

But you and I don’t come with a “Table of Contents”, we don’t have an “Ingredient” list on the side of our clothing, or tattooed on our arms.

So, how does someone find out who we really are, what we’re really made of?

I guess only time will tell.

But, seriously, how do we find out what we’re really made of?

Honestly, nothing short of Divine Intervention will reveal to us the full extent of content of our character.

Apart from Having a talk with God, like Stevie Wonder sang, or having a little talk with Jesus…

The challenges that we face, or more accurately the way respond to those challenges show us what we are made of.

Everyday we are both deciding and revealing the content of our character.

Everyday we are both showing and choosing who we really are.

My challenge to you today is to take some time…

Get some where and set down…

And reflect… And remember…

Remember the gifts that you have been given.

Remember the blessings that have been bestowed upon you.

Remember the challenges that you have overcome.

Remember the challenges that you still face.

And as you remember that, remember this…

The first step to taking your life, your relationships, your business, and most importantly, your character  to the next level is OWNing where you are right now.
